I worked
as an editorial illustrator for much of the 1990's
and phased out completely by 2001. Here is a sampling of what I
did, much of it for the LA Weekly, LA Times, and SF Bay Guardian.
During my heyday, I'd get a call from Steve at the Times OP-ED or
Bill at the Weekly which would start a 48-72 hour count down clock
to the press deadline. Often I was working at Knowledge Adventure
during the day, then I'd run home at 6 or 7 PM, make some coffee
and prepare to stay up all night to make the deadline. Eventually
I was able to email finished scans, but for the first few years
I was driving the art to the paper so it could get photographed.
